Is Trump Hurting Us?

In looking at the presidency of Donald Trump, I can’t put all the blame on him. Throughout the election he showed who he was. One aspect that he didn’t show was a lack of leadership. He talks tough and tries to portray himself as a leader, but once in a position where he had to show it he can’t.

Leaders take charge, leaders take responsibility, leaders look forward, leaders are respected, but more important, leaders get positive results. Pres. Trump has failed on all these leadership qualities.

I also fault the “leadership” in Congress. The republican leaders have not stood up and spoken out when Pres. Trump says a lie or something really wrong. It would be very easy for congressional leaders from both parties to come together to make decisions that are best for the country, but they don’t. They will do whatever it takes to get the smallest political gain over the country’s interest.

The Presidents staff also is accountable. Each one of them has to look in the mirror and say they are doing what is best for the country. I don’t see any of them resigning when the president says something offensive that is an embarrassment to the country.

Trump is who he is. Or who I thought he was on leadership. He is hurting the country because he does not understand that he represents the whole country, not just his base. What he says should energize an uplift most of the country and not just his base. No president is going to enjoy support from all the country, but he or she should form a good majority.

He should be a man of his word and he is not. He should inspire, but he doesn’t. He should project strength but also have humility and he doesn’t. He should make people want to be loyal to him by his actions not by just demanding it. He should admit when he is wrong and in this area we have seen he is incapable of doing that.

He is hurting us, but those who can make things better also refuse to do so.
