Why Is The National Anthem Played At
Every Sporting Event?
There is a lot of controversy over
the national anthem at football games.
My question is why does it need to be played at all? I never understood why people needed to
affirm their love for the country by singing the national anthem at every
event.
Colin Kaepernick used it for social
protest which started a huge debate. His
critics said he was disrespectful. If
everyone is supposed to stand still during the anthem, then EVERYONE needs
to. If you watch you will see multitudes
of people moving around, especially the television crews. Why are they not labeled disrespectful? You can’t say that tv people are just doing
their job. Yes you can. Nothing says they need to be going around
taking shots of different people during the anthem. One camera fixed on the flag is all that is
needed.
Why at sporting events? When people go to work each day, the company
does not have everyone stand for the anthem. I have yet to go into any business
establish and hear it played.
Hearing the anthem over and over
again does not make me more patriotic. It just gets me tired of hearing it. I
get tired of hearing ANY song that many times.
It should be played only at very special occasions. Take it out of sporting events and just play
the game.
